What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the front of each tooth to improve your smile. Veneers can be made from several different materials including porcelain or composite material.

During treatment, the front layer of the tooth is removed before the veneers are attached. Veneers are a cosmetic procedure, so while they will improve the look of your smile, your natural tooth is still left intact behind the veneer.

Are Veneers Right For You?

Veneers are a great option for enhancing the appearance of your smile.

Veneers can be applied to one or more teeth and can be used to hide a chipped or broken tooth, gaps in your smile, stains, a small or misshapen tooth. Veneers only cover the front of the tooth cosmetic procedure, it’s important to treat any cavities or gum disease before veneer treatment.

What You Need to Know

Veneers are durable and long lasting and look just like your natural teeth. During your consultation, your dentist will examine your teeth to make sure you are a good candidate for veneers.

At your second appointment, your dentist will prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel before taking a 3D scan of your teeth. We will use this scan to create customised veneers that fit you perfectly. Veneers can last between 8-10 years but will need to be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt to get veneers?

Before your procedure we may numb your mouth to make you feel more comfortable. You may experience some discomfort during the procedure. Our friendly dentists will talk through any concerns you have before treatment and can go over pain relief options with you.

How long do veneers last?

The length of time veneers last depends on how well you care for your teeth and what type of material the veneers are made from. Porcelain veneers last the longest and if well cared for may last ten or twenty years. Composite veneers can last up to eight years. In both cases, your veneers will need to be replaced at some point.

How do I clean my veneers?

You can care for your veneers the same way you care for your natural teeth. Brush your veneers twice a day and floss every day. Another important way to care for your veneers is to avoid eating hard foods or using your teeth to open or tear objects.
